Birchbox August review: CLE Melting Lip Powder in blushing peach.

Welcome folks to another entry and a new special. That's right, for the next entries, I am reviewing beauty products from August's Birchbox delivery.

Firstly, what is Birchbox? Birchbox is an online beauty shop that specialises in higher end beauty products (think the likes of Ritual, Benefit, Dirty Little Secret, Cath Kidston, etc.) that's made of 2 parts.

Part 1: Is your traditional online beauty store where you buy what you want, pay your money and then it gets delivered.

Part 2: Is a monthly subscription box that cost £10 (+£2.95 p&p). In this box you have at least 2 full sized products (worth between £20 and £35 depending on what products you get) and then 3-4 additional sample sized products. It's really good because it allows you to try something new and for beauty bloggers like me, it means unlimited writing potential.

My CLE Melting Lip Powder on my laptop for you all to see.

As mentioned in the title, I am reviewing a melting lip powder today. This product is by CLE, a company who pride themselves on being real women .
It uses a lot of Korean influence (FYI, they're the folks who brought BB and CC to the mainstream market) and they have a variety of beauty products for sale, including their unique melting lip powders.

I'll be honest when I heard the words lip and powder in the same sentence, my eyebrows were slightly raised. I've heard about power for any other part of my face, except my lips and I was going to need a lot of convincing otherwise.

Firstly, I had to do the good old fashioned beauty blogger/vlogger swatch test. To see exactly what I was getting myself in for and more importantly, to see the CLE magic.
My Swatch Test.

The peach line at the front that looks more faded is the powder after being applied about 3-4 hours ago. Whilst the line at the back is a line that I literally just did. I was impressed with the initial colour and the faded as they both could really work in some daytime looks.

Now for the actual real test. What it would look like on my chops. For this experiment, I used the powder on both my lips and cheeks. With my favourite foundation and mascara.

The finished blogger. Foundation: Body shop Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation (in Railay Beach), Mascara: W7 Queen Bee (in Black), Cheek and Lips: CLE Melting Lip powder in blushing peach.

Once thing I noticed quickly was that this was definitely more suited to day time looks. As it was very subtle when applied on my face especially around the lips. In fact, I would go one stage further and say, this would be a really good product to use when you want to try the 'no make up' make up as it gives you a glow without saying 'I slapped 6 layers of product on my face). Also I preferred it on my cheeks than my lips as I found the product slightly dried them. I'm tempted to try the powder tomorrow on top of some lip balm and see if that makes it feel nicer.

Overall CLE's Melting Lip powder is a very unique specimen when it comes to make-up that I traditionally wear and I'll be honest, if it wasn't in my Birchbox, I would have 0 reason to consider it. However it is a really versatile product (you can even make it an eyeshadow, if you want to) which is good for traveling and overnight ventures. It's also a good product for those days where you only want something light on your face however I wouldn't use it as part of my night palate.

Final score: 7/10.

Want to try CLE for yourself? Or fancy grabbing some of Birchbox's products before I review them? Simply log onto Birchbox via this post and you'll get whole Queenie off their first box, for those of you not from Melton Mowbray, a queenie is £5. Yes, that means you will get the lip powder plus 4 other products for £7.95 including postage. What a deal, especially given the CLE powder alone is worth double that.

Next time, we'll be reviewing our first bath & shower product. I hope you're ready to get happy folks.
